Is Vanlife Sustainable?…We Think So!

So, who’s invested in a camper van for the summer?…we have. To be honest it’s been on the cards for a while but with the promise of a busy year of events ahead for Harbour Hounds, we felt that the time was right to take the step…and we’re now super excited!

Fitting out our new ‘CamperCan’ (that’s the current name…likely to change) with all essentials for a comfortable road trip, is a lot of fun. We like to support other small businesses and especially those who share our ethos, so we’ve found some awesome brands to accessorise and make life on the road not only a home from home, but help save the planet too.

Here are a few for you camper lovers to enjoy…

Blankets

Our first new find was Voited. We just love their Outdoor Pillow Blanket that starts as a pillow and transforms into a super snuggly blanket and like Harbour Hounds, inspired by nature. Made from recycled bottles, your pooch can also have their own blanket to match!

Kitchen Utensils

For our kitchen needs we went to Worth London. A fabulous brand who partner with over 250 brands that make eco-friendly and ethical products….so lots to shop. We especially loved their Coconut Bowl & Spoon Set, Re-usable unpaper kitchen towels and Bamboo Fibre Plate, which all work perfectly for traveling. They have a whole host of stuff we need for CamperCan, so we’re not finished with our order here yet…

Toilet Roll

Next up was the all-important toilet needs. If you haven’t come across them yet Who Gives a Crap (bit of a pun) are our go too for toilet paper. Started by 3 very cool dudes in 2012 this UK brand donate 50% of their profits to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world.

Warm Clothing

We’ve been a fan of Rapanui for some time, as like us they have Isle of Wight connections and we just love their sustainabile ethos. So, new van…new Beanie…for those chilly evenings by the fire. We also love their Stop Plastic Tee design and their Women’s Campfire Bundle…so might be tempted to go back for another sneaky order.

Harbour Hounds Dog Essentials

And of course we can’t forget Harbour Hounds…Nelly wouldn’t be without her stylish snuggly drying robe for chilling out after a wet walk or sea swim in CamperCan.

Adventures always need our Harbour Hounds Treat Bag normally filled with Luv Hearts, as they’re Nelly’s favourite training treats.

And a Beach Bag is a must for any trip. This very clever Harbour Hounds one does more than just carry your stuff. Turn this beach bag inside out, pop the stud fastenings and you have a mat to sit on too.
